In a word- predictable.

No character depth, even though their internal monologues go on and on about guilt and feeling sad about a completely unrealistic series of events.

I guess because of the shallow storyline, it could be considered an easy read, but because of the fact that it's so obvious where the story's going, you kind of feel like you're just reading about the characters going in circles about their feelings.

I would’ve given 1/2 or less if it permitted. First - I love to read so I always have a book that I pick up to read first thing in AM while alls quiet.
Second - I’ve never stopped reading a book until this one , it’s awful.
Sorry to Author but It’s not worth your time & certainly not your $$$
This was a very long book to get through. I ended up skimming through many pages because the levels of detail and the constant repeating the same things over and over again drove me crazy. This book could have easily been cut in half. Storyline was ok. Predictable.
I seldom give a book a five star rating...This one earned it. In The Affair you meet Justin Cole, his wife Alicia, and their children,15 year old Sophie and baby Luke. Their lives are about to fall apart. You'll also meet Jessica, Alicia's sister who has the Cole family's best interests at heart...or does she? You'll also.meet Detective Taylor, who does all he can to help them. Who can you trust??
I will soon be reading The Babysitter, and hoping for a lot more from Ms. Browne.
I really expected a lot more after reading the professional reviews of a "gripping" thriller. I thought it was a good average thriller that could have been way better. It was so easy to guess who the killer was. I like to be surprised at the end but this ending was just what thought from the beginning. Also, I have to agree with other reviewers that the grammatical errors were out of control! An editor needs to go thru the entire book and make corrections. I was surprised that the publisher pushed this through. I enjoyed the book as a light read.
Nice story, lovely ending, but why is this guy Justin all of a sudden called Cole in chapter 71? Author and editor messed up big time there. Utterly annoying.
Sorry, could not even finish this book! If I read "Are you Okay?" - "Yes, are you okay" ONE MORE TIME, I was going to scream. Story just stayed STUCK. There were no "surprises", no "twists and turns" - no nothing. It is only a little over 300 pages ... I finally had to jump to end to see who did what and end my misery! I hate it when I pay good money and get an awful book! So, Buyer Beware.....
So far the first two pages have me nuts because of spelling errors throughout !
