One of the most well written books that I've read in a really long time. The story line flows the entire book. There isn't any part that seems like "filler" chapters, there isn't any part of the book that is slow. Overall an amazing story this if written phenomenally.
Gabe is a big, bad, alpha SEAL. He's one of the best. He is taken captive on his last mission. His wife Helen and daughter Mallory are told his missing, then declared dead. A year after he went missing and shortly after declared dead, Helen is finally coming to terms that her husband of only a few years is never coming back. It's time to suck it up and come tot he realization.
Until late one evening, Helen receives the phone call that will change her future. Gabe is alive. Her and Mallory go to the hospital with very conflicting emotions. Mallory now a teenager (Gabe's step-daughter) is excited and glad to have her dad back. Helen not so much. Before Gabe disappeared their marriage was...strained. As, Helen prepares to see her husband again she's told he doesn't remember the last few years...with her.
After coming home, things are different. Gabe is caring, compassionate, loving. He was never like that before. This confuses Helen because she was prepared to leave Gabe once his memory came back. After a few short weeks, Gabe's memory is back, and boy does it cause a storm.

Gabriel Renault is a SEAL. He and his team were in NK to get some missiles out. They got three of the four missiles before all hell broke lose in the warehouse where they were stored.

Gabes XO, Miller, ordered everyone out. Gabe was pissed as they had a good chance of getting the last missile but orders were orders.

Two of the four man team went one way and Gabe was to meet Miller on the other end. When he gets there Miller clocks him with a rifle and ties his hands and feet. Gabe is flabbergasted and helpless. The warehouse blows up and everyone assumes Gabe is dead. He's a prisoner of the North Koreans for a year and then escapes and is found.

So begins one great read.

Gabe is a SEAL through and through. He now has no memory of the last year to include the mission he was lost on. He has no idea what happened and his superiors need him to remember. He needs to remember.

Helen, his wife, thought he was dead. She realized Gabe was driven by his duty to his team. She felt that he would always put the team ahead of she and Mallory, his stepdaughter.

In the year he's been thought dead Helen learned to take control of her life and she doesn't know if she wants Gabe in that life again.

This story has murder, traitors, a conspiracy, Gabes team, new priorities for Gabe and he and Helen trying to get it right.

Just one super read. Five stars.
Forget Me Not will pull you in and never let you go. From the beginning, to the end, this story sucks you in. I love a good action, suspenseful military romance. Helen is finally getting on with her life, after the death of her husband. Then one phone call changes everything. Gabe was MIA, then presumed dead. Now he's back but doesn't remember the last three years of his life, to include his wife and stepdaughter. Will Gabe get his memory back in time to save his wife and his team? Will Helen give him a second chance at love?
Forget Me Not was the first book in Marliss Melton's Seal Team 12's series. This is my first book by Marliss Melton and I really enjoyed the book. It centers around Gabe when he returns from a mission that he was presumed dead on. He has no memories of the last three years so not only does he not remember the mission but he doesn't remember his wife Helen or his stepdaughter Mallory. His relationship with his wife was not healthy prior to his mission and Helen let's Gabe know quickly that she wants a separation as soon as he is back on his feet. However, it seems Gabe may be in some danger and without his memories he isn't sure what or who the source of that danger is.

The suspense is written really well in this book and although I thought some of the "bad guys" were fairly obvious it still had me on the edge of my seat to see how it would all play out. Gabe is suffering from PTSD from his torture so it isn't always clear what is real and what isn't. I also liked watching Gabe try to repair his relationship with Helen and I really loved his relationship with his step daughter. The military aspects were realistic and well done as well.

The reason this book was a 4 star and not a five was Helen's character. She really came across as selfish and hard to like. I understand that she had some reservations about Gabe and their relationship but there were times when it seemed she wasn't even happy that he was alive and yet she was supposedly still in love with him.

Overall I enjoyed this romantic suspense. I liked Gabe's character and his growth from the man he was before his imprisonment to the man he became after. His relationship with his step daughter was an added element that I thoroughly enjoyed. The suspense and action kept me engaged and interested. I will definitely be reading the next book in the series.
